Weeping Willow – Salix or Goats Beard Willow… where do the names come from?

One of the highlights at the start of spring for me are the catkins on the willow. In a calming and reassuring way, we watch our pot-located weeping willow from the warmth of our kitchen as it creates silvery fluffy pillows on its branches. To later be freaked out by its flowering… freaky yellow balls….

Spring is here at the local John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. A giant ring of Crocus adorn the roundabout outside the main entrance….


The Catkins are out and starting to flower now. Love them, they’re so fluffy! To a worm it’s like a huge pillow.
